2. What does "Water resistant to 10 Bar (ATM)" mean?

4. Is it safe to wear my watch in a Sauna, Jacuzzi or hot tub?

The various components used in the manufacture and assembly of your watch expand at various rates. The rapid change in temperature when entering a Jacuzzi or hot tub could result in a loss of the sealing capabilities of gaskets, which may allow moisture to enter. In addition, heat from these sources can cause deformation of certain materials leading to mechanical failures. For these reasons, you should remove your watch before entering a sauna, hot tub or Jacuzzi.

5. Why does my watch get foggy if it is water-resistant?

The clouding of the crystal is caused by the following two factors: The temporary clouding of the crystal is due to a sudden change in temperature inside the watch, such as going from a warm environment to a cold environment or vice versa. If it disappears after a short time, it causes no deterioration to the performance of the watch and is not indicative of a problem with water resistance.

6. How can I extend the life of the rubber watch strap?

Periodic cleaning of the rubber strap is recommended. Using an old soft toothbrush and a mild dish detergent and water, thoroughly cleanse   the inside and outside of the strap. Completely rinse off any soap residue and then thoroughly dry the strap. If you expose your strap to salt water, be sure to rinse it with clear water as soon as possible. Some people even use a rubber protectant to keep the strap soft. The softer and dryer the strap is kept, the longer it will last.

7. How do I Order a watch?

8. What is Eco-Drive?

Citizen Eco-Drive watches use the simplest, yet most technically advanced power generating and storage system in the Watch Manufacturing Industry. A Solar conversion panel and energy cell are the power provider for these Quartz Watches.
Eco-Drive's ability to use light from any source to generate electrical power means that the supply is limitless and free.
The absence of any added complex power generating machinery that would require additional upkeep is another big advantage.

9. How is energy stored in my Eco-Drive?

A special Eco-Drive energy storage cell is used to store the electricity from the converted light energy. The high quality of the cell precludes it from being affected from the regular charge/discharge cycle as with an ordinary battery.
With normal care and exposure to light, the owner can be assured of a lifetime of reliable and trouble free power. As an added benefit to the environment, the energy cell contains none of the chemicals used in ordinary watch batteries.

10. What does it mean when the second hand on my Eco-Drive watch jumps two seconds at a time?

It means that the reserve power is getting low and the energy cell needs to be fully recharged by exposing it to light for a period of time outlined in your owner's manual. This may also occur after fully recharging your watch after a complete discharge of the energy cell. If you have fully charged your watch and the second hand continues to move in two second intervals, you need to do an all reset of the watch. For simple analog models, pull the crown out to the time setting position for 30 seconds, then return the crown to the closed position next to the case, then set the time. For multi-function models, please refer to your owners manual.

11. What is a BAR or ATM of pressure?

Water resistance is measured in BAR's or ATM's when the watch is in a static (motionless) state. One BAR or ATM is equivalent to the pressure at 33 feet under water. One thing to keep in mind is that we live at 1 atmosphere of pressure. This means that when a watch is water resistant to 3 "BAR or ATM", it is water resistant to 66 feet under water, not 99 feet as many people believe.

13.  Why do I have to have a water test?

Regular maintenance is required to preserve the water resistant quality of any timepiece. The only way to ensure the gaskets are in a condition to protect your watch against the intrusion of moisture is to put your watch under pressure equivalent to the water resistant rating of the watch. All water-resistant models should have the gaskets changed every 18 months to two years. If the watch is used in daily showering, a chlorinated pool or salt water, the gaskets should be changed on a yearly basis.

14. How can I make sure my watch remains water resistant?

Water resistance is not a permanent feature of your timepiece. The rubber gaskets utilized in sealing your watch deteriorate over time. These gaskets can experience accelerated deterioration if you expose your timepiece to salt or chlorinated water, soaps and chemicals. We recommend having the gaskets replaced in your timepiece every 18 months. If your watch is exposed to salt or chlorinated water, soaps or chemicals, we recommend you have the gaskets replaced yearly to maintain the water resistant quality of your timepiece.

15.  I need to repair an old clock. What should I do?

16. How often should a watch be serviced?

Like any high-precision instrument, a watch movement needs to be serviced regularly in order for it to work perfectly. Servicing depends on the model, climate and the care taken by the owner. On an average a watch should be overhauled every 5 years.

17. How much will it cost to have my watch repaired?

We are unable to quote exact repair prices without having examined the watch because actual parts needs cannot be determined until our technicians have had an opportunity to review your timepiece. However, we will be happy to give you an estimate. Please complete the repair request provided.

18. Does my watch automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time?

As the watch does not have any method to know what time zone you are in and if that time zone observes daylight savings time, this is a manual adjustment. For those timepieces with multiple time zones, each time zone must be told daylight savings time is active or inactive.

19. Is the high-tech material scratch-resistance?

Yes, high-tech ceramics used in Rado watches is scratch-resistant. The only way they can be scratched is if a harder substance such as a diamond scratches them or they can break if they fall on a hard surface like concrete or marble.

20. Are sapphire crystals scratch-proof?

 Yes, crystals made of sapphire are scratch-proof. The only way they can be scratched is if a harder substance such as a diamond scratches them or they can break if they fall on a hard surface like concrete or marble. Everyday wear will not mark the crystal.

25. Do you ship to PO Boxes?

If your watch requires warranty service (excluding batteries) please visit our Warranty Information section to find the contact information for your specific watch brand. 28. What items are considered a final sale?

Some of our brands are immediately discounted online by 20-25% and thus still fall under our regular return policy. Any item that is discounted at 30% off or more will be considered a FINAL SALE. 32.  Why should my battery be changed at an authorized service center?

We recommend you take your watch to an authorized service center as the service centre when changing battery will also check to make sure your watch is sealed correctly.

33.  How long is the life of a watch battery?

A battery life varies usually from two to four years depending on the type of watch, its dimensions and the quantity of energy requested by the different functions. For instance, a chronograph will have a higher energy consumption than a watch indicating the hours and minutes only.

34.  Why didn't the replacement battery in my watch last as long as the first battery?

As the watch ages, battery changes may become more frequent due to the oils in the movement drying out or dirt entering the watch through aged gaskets. This causes more friction increasing the electrical demands of the step motor.

36.  What is Water Resistance?

A product may be classified as "Water Resistant" if it is sufficiently impervious to water or moisture when it is immersed completely in water for five minutes under atmospheric pressure of 15 pounds per square inch and for at least another five minutes under an additional pressure of at least 35 pounds per square inch without the entrance of moisture.
